Day 2: ARIA BLOG TOUR: Kelly Kittel

Hannah:  Kelly, welcome to day 2 of my week to host the Association of Rhode Island Author (ARIA) blog tour. Tell me a little bit about yourself and where you're from.

Kelly:  I’m a mom, author, and part fish. I live on Aquidneck Island with my husband and three of our five living children where I write and, like most fish, swim in the ocean daily.

Hannah:  What are you working on these days and what’s the current status of that project?

Kelly:  My memoir, Breathe, was published in May so I’m very busy with the marketing of that right now.

Hannah:  Can you tell the audience what inspires you to write?

Kelly:  I was born with a book clutched tightly in my little fist and as a toddler spent my days in my playpen surrounded by books. Books are still some of my best friends and reading is what often inspires me to write.

Hannah:  What genre do you enjoy writing the most?

Kelly:  Nonfiction. I have no imagination.

Hannah:  Any upcoming projects we should now about?

Kelly:  Soon I’ll switch gears from marketing to writing my next book, a travel memoir about living in Costa Rica.

Hannah: Favorite movie?

Kelly:  Braveheart

Hannah: Favorite food or dish to make?

Kelly:  Cookies

Hannah:  Favorite place you have ever visited?

Kelly:  Any warm, white-sand beach and I’ve visited and lived on many

Hannah:  Favorite music band?

Kelly:  The Who

Hannah:  Favorite book?

Kelly:  Like asking a kid in a candy store to pick one, I can’t, but A Prayer for Owen Meany is up there and my favorite this year is Me, Who Dove Into the Heart of the World.

Hannah: Is there anything you would like to leave us with?

Kelly:  We write our stories to save our lives.
